Our client, an aircraft manufacturer, had a 10-member multi-disciplinary team of project managers assigned to a major facility consolidation. Our team was contracted to to assist with move sequencing, process control, information technology requirements and inventory analysis. We provided analysis and data to ensure that their 4M+ inventory was relocated safely and quickly in a manner that maintained a seamless experience for their end customers. Our team also provided hands on tactical-level supervision throughout the move to confirm that the material was slotted according to planograms that we created. Several thousand pallet positions were moved along with approximately 25,000 small parts pick bins.
Results
Our client was able to maintain a ship rate that was only slightly below their normal daily rate. Through deep use of both barcode and RFID tracking technologies, our team was able to locate and touch each and every part within a maximum time of 30 minutes. The entire relocation was completed in 50% of the allotted time with 63% of the allotted labor.
